1st Trip to Disney!

If you "like" HCD on Facebook, then you already know that we went to Disney World on Monday! Let me tell you, I don't think I have ever been so excited to go in my entire life. And I have been very fortunate to have been easily 25 times. I have always loved Disney World, but taking your own child is a whole different experience. It could not have been more perfect.

The weather was absolutely wonderful. It was cool enough to require a light jacket in the morning, but by afternoon the temperature was perfect. Warm, but not to the point were you are sweating. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, it was magical (as Disney should be!). And there was not much of a crowd either being that it was a Monday in the off season. The longest line we waited in was about 35 minutes.

And Jaycelyn loved every single minute of it (well with the exception of a short tantrum waiting in line for Snow White... it was one of those where you know everyone is thinking, "Gosh learn to control your child" kind of tantrums, legs and arms flailing, top of the lung screaming, the whole nine yards. And all because we would not let her run away). I was amazed at how much she enjoyed the rides. I was a little worried that they were going to scare her, but she was absolutely enthralled. And we did every single one that she was allowed on. Even "Pirates of the Caribbean" (which she loved) and "Haunted Mansion" (although she was asleep during that ride... probably a good thing).   Her favorite by far was "It's a Small World". (What is it about that ride?) She was mesmerized by all the dolls singing and dancing. It was so much fun to see her little face as she took it all in.
She wanted to walk everywhere. I would say she walked at least half the day. She was so adorable trotting along next to me. She turned so many heads. Even a teenage boy stopped and said, "Oh my gosh, she is soooo cute!". These pictures were taken right after lunch. She had discovered her shadow and was playing with it! I thought it was very fitting since were were walking into Fantasy Land (the Peter Pan ride is there).
Speaking of lunch... her entire lunch for the day was one green bean, one gold fish, one french fry, and almost an entire 16 oz Coke! If we took it away from her she would scream at the top of her lungs. We do not normally let her have coke, but when at Disney...

Her favorite part of the day, hands down, was the parade. She sat on the curb and watched every last second of it. Her eyes never left the characters and dancers. And every single character on our side of the parade came over to greet her even the ones on the float would point and wave and blow kisses to her. I know I sound like one of those people that think everyone is enthralled by their kid, but I'm not exaggerating. One of the ugly step sisters practically broke character. She almost drug the evil step mother over to see Jaycelyn. It was so funny. It is pure joy to see the world through a child's eyes. It was such an amazing experience.
Despite the fact that she enjoyed the characters during the parade, the meet and greet was a whole different story. She was not a fan at all. We got some great photos though!

Here are some of my favorite photos of her (actually happy) from the day. Top left is the first photo of the day on the Monorail. Third photo from the left on the top row is her sleeping in line for the Haunted Mansion. Third photo from the left on the bottom is her trying cotton candy for the first time.
I love this series of photos I took of J and Daddy waiting in line for a ride. They melt my heart!

The day was perfect. We did everything we wanted to do. Jaycelyn was in a great mood (for most of the day), and she loved it almost as much as we loved watching her enjoy it. It will be a day that I will remember fondly forever.

Are you headed to Disney World? Or maybe you are having a Minnie Mouse party. Well your in luck. I'm now offering this Mini Minnie dress in my Etsy shop:
