I'm back with part 2 of our amazing maternity photo shoot. If you missed <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2014/07/our-maternity-photo-shoot-part-1.html" target="_blank">part 1 </a>you can check it out <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2014/07/our-maternity-photo-shoot-part-1.html" target="_blank">here</a>. There were just so many incredible images I could not make it one post. Since there was a custom change giving these images a different feel I thought why not... two posts. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP3-hFhjpa7WAEwJzwIfYsHVaOOkmNcIDfeYhyl2LwzZ2L6PS52XXAo0N4YwWmRK_WxmpUvmzF8ISotJNCY2EPw7C9VVw_OtaIt-rVJFlyMq4Ocgl2XeBRl6-dXrCa1PeHhvlUx-bhFYw/s1600/Maternity-125-small+with+watermark.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP3-hFhjpa7WAEwJzwIfYsHVaOOkmNcIDfeYhyl2LwzZ2L6PS52XXAo0N4YwWmRK_WxmpUvmzF8ISotJNCY2EPw7C9VVw_OtaIt-rVJFlyMq4Ocgl2XeBRl6-dXrCa1PeHhvlUx-bhFYw/s1600/Maternity-125-small+with+watermark.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
It is a total tie between the above and bellow images as to which is my favorite. I just can't get over how amazingly perfect they are. The are like something straight out of a magazine. I already knew <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ShanaBeiroPhotography" target="_blank">Shana Beiro</a> was awesome, but when I saw these images I was completely blown away. She is one seriously talented lady!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqpHdsmUORC65mP4wBQJCLw5gxYomekVdN9SiurQ1pBSh4IbaBU1P2BNTLmSdHer3Wf-LfslXNJ-SiyhY2TZrL91Oc3jmFlByqOT3bKrex9KS4I9YdWMcQQ-yS3AJVbgPeZTuh_s1SaSc/s1600/Maternity-2-watermark.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqpHdsmUORC65mP4wBQJCLw5gxYomekVdN9SiurQ1pBSh4IbaBU1P2BNTLmSdHer3Wf-LfslXNJ-SiyhY2TZrL91Oc3jmFlByqOT3bKrex9KS4I9YdWMcQQ-yS3AJVbgPeZTuh_s1SaSc/s1600/Maternity-2-watermark.jpg" height="278" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And a few more because... WOW! I made the belly band bellow, but more on that later...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-W4X-_98kqdX2OSW395KxBVNLCrg_1JMlrlFSWTopvdXrnlzWFLuiluZ9TehpTWXSv5VkNL4kOS9eFVdGLMMVsvqCAcQJisIbqTRXsi6Q7Agoo4O0zwu9lCkALB_H4mIlwtrNfSItV1w/s1600/me+and+j+white.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-W4X-_98kqdX2OSW395KxBVNLCrg_1JMlrlFSWTopvdXrnlzWFLuiluZ9TehpTWXSv5VkNL4kOS9eFVdGLMMVsvqCAcQJisIbqTRXsi6Q7Agoo4O0zwu9lCkALB_H4mIlwtrNfSItV1w/s1600/me+and+j+white.jpg" height="368" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And for those of you here about the sewing, this dress was created using one of my all time favorite patterns. It is the <a href="http://shwindesigns.bigcartel.com/product/the-maggie-mae-tunic-dress" target="_blank">Maggie Mae </a>by Shwin Designs. If you sew, you really should check out her patterns. They are in my top three. I of course made many modifications to the skirt, but the bodice is the same (with the exception of the lace overlay). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv55dxZa465mcxLDbkX9gKuN5lTJ_EerHO9n2EPXb3y_qsk2z_gu3ydTYt6lUEw6z19H16Mg-natqxqTVyTG6eGwSy8JgKuvGcGZx7nl8YnGi47IYbvjxmuea6vOXUmJS8dTAJUHw7mhg/s1600/J+fancy+dress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv55dxZa465mcxLDbkX9gKuN5lTJ_EerHO9n2EPXb3y_qsk2z_gu3ydTYt6lUEw6z19H16Mg-natqxqTVyTG6eGwSy8JgKuvGcGZx7nl8YnGi47IYbvjxmuea6vOXUmJS8dTAJUHw7mhg/s1600/J+fancy+dress.jpg" height="196" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I just love how this little dress turned out. But the best part of all is how much J loves it. The night of the shot, she refused to take it off. She actually SLEPT in it! And now when I let her pick an outfit, she asks to wear "fancy dress" (this one) or her "kingdom dress".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOFI8JrINy9Drbuto8CFRIsCHBPb9gM34nlOUdVKlbB_vpHQ_ObDKAEYjeLK3RoiQXVJiO44UR430JZ5qhM1U2iIpOF5GTcxdUTFUvgwQ-zVjeptNvsoD012rvyAqUdWOzI5KYmkjfI2M/s1600/many+faces+of+J+white.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOFI8JrINy9Drbuto8CFRIsCHBPb9gM34nlOUdVKlbB_vpHQ_ObDKAEYjeLK3RoiQXVJiO44UR430JZ5qhM1U2iIpOF5GTcxdUTFUvgwQ-zVjeptNvsoD012rvyAqUdWOzI5KYmkjfI2M/s1600/many+faces+of+J+white.jpg" height="398" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well I hope you enjoyed a little peek into our family through these images. Up next... Baby B's newborn photos! </div>

I am so glad that I finally have a chance to share them with you. Our new little princess does not like sleep very much, and it is almost impossible to type with one hand. LOL.<br />
<br />
The most amazingly talented <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ShanaBeiroPhotography" target="_blank">Shana Beiro</a> created these fantastic images for us. I am just so in love with how she was able to capture all the love, life, and J's abundant energy. I don't know how she does it. Wait until you see the photos of Brynlee!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi34exK4iTqDdWh3SjBREjgYn9-Z0oH-vdIiyWA6KuB9utubtcASl8aYKrEdtKSOF6eQ9_ryQCgnNDd0oSjIV4zahXt4ifAZfREuFDq41arPK9ETasafT52ll2B21x8oforjCJYnEhuRr4/s1600/fam+favs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi34exK4iTqDdWh3SjBREjgYn9-Z0oH-vdIiyWA6KuB9utubtcASl8aYKrEdtKSOF6eQ9_ryQCgnNDd0oSjIV4zahXt4ifAZfREuFDq41arPK9ETasafT52ll2B21x8oforjCJYnEhuRr4/s1600/fam+favs.jpg" height="196" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I had the absolute hardest time narrowing down which photos to show you guys. There are so many amazing shots! So please excuse all the story boards... I know it is hard to see the details, but I just could not narrow it more than this. I mean look at all of them!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8vVH9OJeXLw7SgN_-QgLinyL7cJ10epCMOa8o-_qUneOzHzzgl_VwA6q5YmrpnJTGJJ5MOIt9YMCIa2mote1U6aax5JZQp8tObDrcZoxikXz1wfUxWF2Nn-54-1QmJWvPHjtj6_86mFU/s1600/family.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8vVH9OJeXLw7SgN_-QgLinyL7cJ10epCMOa8o-_qUneOzHzzgl_VwA6q5YmrpnJTGJJ5MOIt9YMCIa2mote1U6aax5JZQp8tObDrcZoxikXz1wfUxWF2Nn-54-1QmJWvPHjtj6_86mFU/s1600/family.jpg" height="400" width="350" /></a></div>
<br />
We have no idea why, but Jaycelyn was all about photos that day. I can't believe how animated she was. I love this series of her showing off her ballet moves. She just cracks me up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQMGSSsfGxW_vbl6H0qPu1rSKe-tf3-Vx1MGZdMEoC5Z4l_n1rTbMYnaNU45mZDJZOoiQpgJdy41eRgarefYL_NyOViVs1UC3bmAUZiCKZLscDaLQ2C9veTpcjqKHyMlkfi8xtQL-oaPE/s1600/Dance+for+me.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQMGSSsfGxW_vbl6H0qPu1rSKe-tf3-Vx1MGZdMEoC5Z4l_n1rTbMYnaNU45mZDJZOoiQpgJdy41eRgarefYL_NyOViVs1UC3bmAUZiCKZLscDaLQ2C9veTpcjqKHyMlkfi8xtQL-oaPE/s1600/Dance+for+me.jpg" height="221" width="400" /></a></div>
Of course most of you are here to hear about the kid clothes. And this dress turned out far better than my imagination. I was originally going to do a pink dress, because we all know how much J loves pink. Well I had picked up this multicolored fabric simply because I loved it. When I was putting together my idea for the dress, it was just begging to become part of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipc-IDcqJfAecrIzDkkops091DLEAMpBP7cnrHyOl9RdCdZmq0a7OisZ2v0cfpUHmzdGYybWRI8kY-BqvYpwAWytqbZHCGEKL4NoMqcEv3o7fvTPLB2LsSjwochIpDGqSj1_TFnVpYx3w/s1600/many+faces+of+J.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipc-IDcqJfAecrIzDkkops091DLEAMpBP7cnrHyOl9RdCdZmq0a7OisZ2v0cfpUHmzdGYybWRI8kY-BqvYpwAWytqbZHCGEKL4NoMqcEv3o7fvTPLB2LsSjwochIpDGqSj1_TFnVpYx3w/s1600/many+faces+of+J.jpg" height="319" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the <a href="http://snazziedrawers.com/catalog.htm?item=14" target="_blank">Ma Cherie</a> pattern from Snazziedrawers. I just adore her work. Her creations are like something out of a dream. Her patterns are well written. I have many of them. Maybe one day I will be brave enough to try one of the fancier patterns.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpG4eriglYi5T7BF7ywYqLycJh9JrGIV5U09gwlFppdh1fy_m1hmUWCC_ifQ6F2xDv7AT-9vih-rBqt_PsB09Z84xF7awjHhQEtJvgG2FymD0AbQ_nhrt2npM5bEB87CnnzWSvck3amfo/s1600/me+and+j.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpG4eriglYi5T7BF7ywYqLycJh9JrGIV5U09gwlFppdh1fy_m1hmUWCC_ifQ6F2xDv7AT-9vih-rBqt_PsB09Z84xF7awjHhQEtJvgG2FymD0AbQ_nhrt2npM5bEB87CnnzWSvck3amfo/s1600/me+and+j.jpg" height="368" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I don't know if you noticed the heading of this post, but this is only part one. I decided that since there were just too many amazing shots and we had a costume change in the middle of it, that I would make this two post to keep it from being epic length. So come back tomorrow for part 2!Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-26476464231838314072014-07-28T13:42:00.000-04:002014-07-30T20:06:37.023-04:00KCW July 2014: Day 5, 6, and 7 RecapWell I did complete the challenge, but I don't have much to show for it.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 5:</b> I spent an hour trying to figure out what is wrong with my embroidery machine.<br />
<br />
No such luck. I will try again soon. I have so many projects just waiting on a properly working machine. I'm more than a little annoyed (which isn't helping the repair process... hehehe).<br />
<br />
<b>Day 6:</b> I cut out the fabric for J's new tent.<br />
<br />
She loves to sleep in her tent. As much as I hate the fact that my daughter is sleeping on the floor and not in her beautiful bed, I love that fact that she will stay in it all night. Choose your battles right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnRexFOxd6ytpUbkEaXVGbyk7VFXJLTlrBHQ0MeOAkHMG27t_Vp6VAmux0KtugmqvXdWsrGwy3B4sy88PW47-R_GJWinOwGNZP0a2OZwNd45iYpHkByfSTBTJ_p275mhAJ4TdEwm9-gcY/s1600/j+in+tent.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnRexFOxd6ytpUbkEaXVGbyk7VFXJLTlrBHQ0MeOAkHMG27t_Vp6VAmux0KtugmqvXdWsrGwy3B4sy88PW47-R_GJWinOwGNZP0a2OZwNd45iYpHkByfSTBTJ_p275mhAJ4TdEwm9-gcY/s1600/j+in+tent.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Well, the tent she was using was not really designed for constant use, and the cheap materials have not been able to stand up to the wear in tear. I found an awesome tutorial on Pintrest, and I decided now was the time.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 7:</b> I made 16 ties for J's new Tent.<br />
<br />
It really does not sound like a lot, but man was it. I can not believe it took me an hour, but it did. I hope to have the tent finished by this weekend, and I will get some photos to share in another post.<br />
<br />
Well it was defiantly an interesting challenge. I'm glad to say that I did complete it with a 3 week old in the house. I know I didn't plan very well this go around, so I know that is something that I will do differently next time. Prep, prep, prep... might be my new moto :)Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-49245591014789686032014-07-25T15:06:00.000-04:002014-07-30T20:05:48.511-04:00KCW July 2014: Day 2, 3, & 4 RecapI'm still here! I will admit, Day 2 was a bust as far as the challenge goes. But for a really good reason. The girls and I got a semi-surprise visit from my mom and sister. I knew they were coming, but plans changed and they arrived much earlier than anticipated. So instead of getting my hour sewing time in, I spent some awesome quality time with them. So much fun!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Even though I didn't sew on Day 2 I did make my time up on Day 3 and 4. I have had these dresses cut since before I had baby B, but I didn't get a chance to sew them up. So since my self made theme of this challenge is "complete my procrastination", this was a great project for me to finish. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0CHzEKZtOA4fi5mJvkjWOXJ0DR2Lzo_sWPzVWxQ1vddrThNlziT4mXgE5K04wV2S7WbzApikf3NvKxMH8-Mxmw3DFdR1Bi8ql7wBTMUW6n9Kaey8oLAfIw_20ZDlqFGyvmGGhPg5HkfxB/s1600/IMG_9350.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0CHzEKZtOA4fi5mJvkjWOXJ0DR2Lzo_sWPzVWxQ1vddrThNlziT4mXgE5K04wV2S7WbzApikf3NvKxMH8-Mxmw3DFdR1Bi8ql7wBTMUW6n9Kaey8oLAfIw_20ZDlqFGyvmGGhPg5HkfxB/s1600/IMG_9350.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>This is the Butterfly Dress (<a href="http://www.tiedyedivapatterns.com/product/the-butterfly-baby-top-flutter-sleeve-dress-top-size-0-to-24-months" target="_blank">baby</a> and <a href="http://www.tiedyedivapatterns.com/product/the-butterfly-dress-flutter-sleeve-dress-with-ruffle-hem-size-2-to-8" target="_blank">girls)</a> by Tie-dye Diva. This was a pattern that I discovered early on in my pdf pattern discovery and I truly love it. It had been a while since I made it, and I feel in love with it all over again. It is actually a pretty quick sew despite how it looks. And there are so many options that you can get several different looks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK0RUOIL2cwtMPL7E82eR3Mlxq3kHdS_IYqisAV-sJ3sI3bm-PKeVRAw7fvpdoD9572pBO0TJTMlcw5dNTPs0Tdv-5-_vptAH9NcP4Uc8VVqFTSKT8Yxqq7y8P3R97HtTywQbIuAGHh_uP/s1600/IMG_9351.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK0RUOIL2cwtMPL7E82eR3Mlxq3kHdS_IYqisAV-sJ3sI3bm-PKeVRAw7fvpdoD9572pBO0TJTMlcw5dNTPs0Tdv-5-_vptAH9NcP4Uc8VVqFTSKT8Yxqq7y8P3R97HtTywQbIuAGHh_uP/s1600/IMG_9351.JPG" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
I wish I could have gotten some pictures of the dresses on my girls, but it is pouring outside today. Not to mention J was in no mood to try anything on. Ugh! Maybe another time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDKKNCFRt1OD7ZLMAHD4Dx9hQ0eIPBpEa463ht_-r4NWWmNhNqGJomNkJvCmPLb-IXCBhNGnTaoB9aLgCY1PPudh67x2Y_UzWusIOwxA7Tr71kck9jEZKevyNdt8IUFWnul_4fXDMOV4az/s1600/IMG_9352.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDKKNCFRt1OD7ZLMAHD4Dx9hQ0eIPBpEa463ht_-r4NWWmNhNqGJomNkJvCmPLb-IXCBhNGnTaoB9aLgCY1PPudh67x2Y_UzWusIOwxA7Tr71kck9jEZKevyNdt8IUFWnul_4fXDMOV4az/s1600/IMG_9352.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today's (Day 5) goal is to try and figure out what my new embroidery machines issue is. I don't know what it's problem is, but it better start behaving. So I will probably not have much to show for today, so I will see you in a day or two with another recap. </div>
Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09895384930823693567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-42349234977134502072014-07-22T22:00:00.000-04:002014-07-30T20:05:30.585-04:00KCW July 2014: Day 1 RecapWell actually day 1 and day zero. I started this on Sunday (the day before the challenge started). I worked on this oh so sweet newborn set. I was super excited when I got this order because it was owl themed! And boy do I love how it turned out.<br />

<a name='more'></a>It was a bit more of a challenge to find a boyish owl print then I expected, but I really, really love this one. I'm sad that I didn't buy any extra. I might just have to go get more :) The blanket was a self drafted (if you can even call it that as it's just a square). Kids just love the minky fabric, so these blankets are perfect for cuddly little ones.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The outfit made many different changes over it evolution into the final product, but I love it so much. I was originally planning on using my new machine to applique an owl on the shirt, but it is not behaving properly and I didn't want to waste my sewing time diagnosing it's issue. I just loved the owls in the fabric so much that I decided to cut some out and manual applique them. So, so happy of did! I love it so much I in almost don't want to on send it off.<br />
<br />

<br />
The pants are one of my favorite pant patterns. I mean come on...those pockets are to die for! It is the <a href="http://www.peekaboopatternshop.com/pier-49-convertible-pants/" target="_blank">Pier 49 Pants</a> by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/PeekaBooPatternShop" target="_blank">Peek-a-boo Patterns</a>. One of my favorite features of the pattern is the roll up pant legs, and is originally why I choose this pattern. But I thought the grey was a little plain and the idea of adding the cuff just came to me. And again I'm just love the with the final result!<br />

<br />
The hat was a new item for me. I found <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/64236808/newsboy-hat-sewing-pattern-reversible?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank">this pattern</a> and loved all the different options for wear. I mean 4 hats in one... how can you in beat that?! The pattern was well written and I love the final results. It came out slightly bigger than I was hoping, but that was just my mis-judgement on size selection (nothing to do with the pattern). On the bright side, the little man will be able to wear it longer ;)<br />

Well I'm off to get started on day two...Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-15007411160854700232014-07-21T17:30:00.000-04:002014-07-21T23:47:14.705-04:00Kids Clothes Week July 2014<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.kidsclothesweek.com/"><img alt="kid's clothes week" src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/staticSite/0214-stripes-300.png" /></a></div>
<br />
Well it's that time again. Kids Clothes Week is back. And yes, I am attempting it with a three week old! I may be nuts, but I really love the KCW challenge. I am actually much more productive when under a deadline and the challenge lights that same fire under my booty. I am feeling ready to get back into the game full time and this will be a good trial run to see how things go with two little ones aroud.<br />
<br />
My plan this go around is to work on some items that have been on my to-do list for far to long. For instance, J walked around with the "pony fabric" I bought for her <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2013/09/pony-party.html" target="_blank">dress for her last birthday party</a> for days before I made the dress. She called it her blanket. So about a month after her birthday I ordered another yard to make her an actual blanket... Her birthday is in August. You read that right. Yeap, as in a month from now. Maybe I'll make it a gift this year. LOL<br />
<br />
I have some other projects for both girls that I would like to get done, but first up I have an order for a sweet little set for a new baby boy that I'm going to make. So look for that as day one recap tomorrow.<br />
<br />
So stick around for a week of seeing my procrastination at it's finest. Here's hoping I do a better job at keeping up with the blog than I did <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2014/04/kcw-day-5-6-7-recap.html" target="_blank">last time</a> ;)<br />
<br />
<br />Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-48464059361850578822014-05-08T11:25:00.000-04:002014-07-22T12:22:12.513-04:00Weddings-a-plentyI have been getting many request for outfits for cuties involved in weddings lately. So I thought I would share a few of them with you.<br />
<br />
You may remember this seersucker beauty from a while back. I posted a pic on Facebook and you all fell in love. It inspired a rainbow of seersucker flutter dresses in my sewing room and I was in love!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XcthsNu1VSM/U2fa96GNelI/AAAAAAAAGAI/Ixi3taEUNeE/s1600/Customs+20144.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XcthsNu1VSM/U2fa96GNelI/AAAAAAAAGAI/Ixi3taEUNeE/s1600/Customs+20144.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wAtXH6LIRcw/U2fbDC22k6I/AAAAAAAAGAQ/ofv5iPOtcxA/s1600/Customs+20145.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wAtXH6LIRcw/U2fbDC22k6I/AAAAAAAAGAQ/ofv5iPOtcxA/s1600/Customs+20145.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was also asked to create this next beauty. I have to admit that I loath working with tulle like this. It is extremely time consuming and not very cooperative and just cumbersome in general. But I've been making things for the special cutie who is to wear it for a long time now and I just couldn't tell her momma no. And boy and I happy that I said yes! I was over the moon over this sweet dress. It turned out to be so much more amazing than I ever could have imagined. It was worth all the time and effort. I mean look at it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QlHOgbn8B1Y/U2fd3q-npkI/AAAAAAAAGAc/HmmeL7o1mdY/s1600/Customs+20146.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QlHOgbn8B1Y/U2fd3q-npkI/AAAAAAAAGAc/HmmeL7o1mdY/s1600/Customs+20146.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This last order was for another long time cutie and her big brothers and cousins. I just love the gingahm so much. And what little one doesn't love purple. According to J it is my favorite color (it's not, but how are you going to tell a three year old she's wrong... hehehe). I added some white ric-rack to the hem and sleeves of the dress after the fact which made the dress soooo much cuter, but of course I forgot to retake the photos. And get a load of that bow tie! I just love bow ties for little guys! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fw7qekimDNw/U2fgnGx-B0I/AAAAAAAAGAo/tE5dp8nG7g0/s1600/Customs+20147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fw7qekimDNw/U2fgnGx-B0I/AAAAAAAAGAo/tE5dp8nG7g0/s1600/Customs+20147.jpg" height="400" width="287" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's always fun to work on a custom order and I love that some many mommas and brides dig HCD for their little ones in weddings. Keep 'em coming ladies! </div>
<br />
And since we went to my cousin's wedding in March (actually the wedding was on my birthday!), I'll share the dress J wore. It is another Brownie-Goose beauty of course. This one is the Millie Dress. And yes, that is mud that she and her cousin are playing in. And no my hubby didn't not think to stop them. Sometimes I just don't know what men are thinking!<br />
<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVyU4LymfPoQZzyEP0XkpuKg0w-VQ8Wmv0_YGSmE02rINX_-O0X6oqxC3y5o5531Ejy1QkUACVz7eglVlu01R70WiZErYIiHcAcgMoeHji29P4U8sV4krvQT0dr2115eKSHBa_NWFUh6k/s1600/IMG_8646_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVyU4LymfPoQZzyEP0XkpuKg0w-VQ8Wmv0_YGSmE02rINX_-O0X6oqxC3y5o5531Ejy1QkUACVz7eglVlu01R70WiZErYIiHcAcgMoeHji29P4U8sV4krvQT0dr2115eKSHBa_NWFUh6k/s1600/IMG_8646_3.jpg" height="270" width="320" /></a></div>
And my love affair with Brownie-Goose continues. The new <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/186464460/bg-originals-the-bay-dress-and-top-pdf?ref=shop_home_active_2" target="_blank">Bay dress</a> is indescribable! I mean get a load of that back... swoon! (and that is not even how it is really suppose to look!) I know I say it pretty much every time she release a new pattern, but this really is my favorite. I just don't now how she does it!<br />
<br />
When the sneak peak of this dress was released about a week before its release, I literally saved a screen shot on my phone and would look at it every day! I could not wait to get my hands on it and start creating.<br />
<br />
I did make a mistake when cutting the bodice (I didn't listen to Ms. Amy... shame on me!) and the top was actually too big. But J would not let me take it off her, so I had the genius idea to put both button holes on one button making the bodice much smaller. It was a quick fix that allowed her to wear it and avoided the fit we would have had if I had taken it off her :) And I think it didn't look half bad either! Although you don't get see that gorgeous curve of the skirt... Here is what the back is suppose to look like. Amazing right?!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TsyjU44DCwY/U2f8El-e_nI/AAAAAAAAGBY/9iGcUkEMsF0/s1600/IMG_8710_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TsyjU44DCwY/U2f8El-e_nI/AAAAAAAAGBY/9iGcUkEMsF0/s1600/IMG_8710_2.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Just in case you don't realize, this is a wrap dress/top. Meaning the back is not sewn closed. It does not open at all when worn because it is overlapped quite a bit. Funny story about this feature... I was finally able to get the top off J and get her changed into some pjs. When I unbuttoned the back and took it off her front, this was her reaction: "Mommy, what are you doing to my dress?! Don't destroy it! I love it!" After a quick demonstration of how the buttons worked, all was right with the world again. And this momma was thrilled to know that she loves her new outfit!<br />

<b><br /></b>
<b>My Details:</b><br />
<i>Fabric -</i> This fabric was just something I had on hand and kinda the first thing I grabbed. But boy was it perfect for this little outfit. It is so much better than I imagined. It is a quilters cotton.<br />
<br />
<i>Time - </i>I forgot to time myself, but from reading, cutting and tracing the pattern, cutting the fabric, and assemble I think it took me about 3-4 hours. I worked on it all day between distractions, so it is hard to tell :)<br />
<br />
<b>The Pattern Designer:</b><br />
If you've been following me for any amount of time, you know that I have serious love addiction to all things BG. The ever amazing Ms. Amy is a super star and everything she does is just fabulous in my book. She is always my number one recommended pattern designer from beginners to advanced seamstress alike. The directions are very clear and there are plenty of detailed photos to help you along the way.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoagnVWFyY7QcjQQjaVIXFEJHrvvf5FaBOM01jzbWLnJWpA0GBsD8iueykTAVMM8vXYUBDbe5ZlnL8k8W5qxZkE6CaPG2z1TiMnbcG8TMO2keRxjKVoy0ND234Fkng1qeG4PxxhJQrDS4/s1600/IMG_8640_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoagnVWFyY7QcjQQjaVIXFEJHrvvf5FaBOM01jzbWLnJWpA0GBsD8iueykTAVMM8vXYUBDbe5ZlnL8k8W5qxZkE6CaPG2z1TiMnbcG8TMO2keRxjKVoy0ND234Fkng1qeG4PxxhJQrDS4/s1600/IMG_8640_2.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>This Pattern: </b><br />
Where to begin with this pattern?! There is so much to love about this pattern. There is of course the back. The amazing awesomeness of swoonworthyness! But other features I love about this pattern is the abundance of options. There are two different bodice lengths, two different skirt lengths (top or dress), and two different finishing options for the skirt in the back (curved or straight). When you add in the fact that you can make it with or without the flutter sleeves, it's options galore.<br />
<br />
This pattern does require a little more fabric than I normally like to use because of the supper full skirt, but the outcome is so worth it. Look at all of that twirl.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDAjtNmb_37_eUF7dsKFWCDl8jqBpHdUM82l0p848OkRMAQy6KXx9ZijBWAL2rXNM1qbtpueV37CnI9FUD0Li4Tw-BwkFqwLyLmLhuqsK3x5nIGB1t93GUXtYDqArVYnOln6QEC9bg-kM/s1600/IMG_8675_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDAjtNmb_37_eUF7dsKFWCDl8jqBpHdUM82l0p848OkRMAQy6KXx9ZijBWAL2rXNM1qbtpueV37CnI9FUD0Li4Tw-BwkFqwLyLmLhuqsK3x5nIGB1t93GUXtYDqArVYnOln6QEC9bg-kM/s1600/IMG_8675_3.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
I do have to admit that for the first time ever there was a part in the instructions that confused me. It was information about lining the skirt (for the curved skirt option). I read it several times, but the pictures don't really show what the words are saying so I was a little lost. I think I figured it out, but cheated and just skipped the lining part by adding trim to the curve.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMlS6fiz80raGK9LR3HSCYZN3kg2vRBsruXgz364vpkOFhsiUav0dNiAJy9RUUJPh9qrXfAMcLx0RpOtgLjYdnv8DGH_9duryfREX5ETLJX_ooDYPfX6B5b43fEOV76VFJSJZQRBozV2E/s1600/IMG_8626_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMlS6fiz80raGK9LR3HSCYZN3kg2vRBsruXgz364vpkOFhsiUav0dNiAJy9RUUJPh9qrXfAMcLx0RpOtgLjYdnv8DGH_9duryfREX5ETLJX_ooDYPfX6B5b43fEOV76VFJSJZQRBozV2E/s1600/IMG_8626_3.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
The sizing on this pattern is a bit tricky due to that open back. Normally it is not a problem if something is slightly big. But in this case the open back will cause the shoulders to slip off even if it is a little big. Ms. Amy does warn about this, but as I told you above, I did not listen to her and measure J first. So of course mine was too big for my little skinny mini. So you MUST measure your child to determine the proper bodice size. I don't consider this a flaw of the pattern every child is so different and even store bought clothes are going to vary in size from one piece to the next.<br />
<br />
Other features I love in this pattern:<br />
<ul style="background-color: white; color: #444444; font-family: 'Crafty Girls'; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24.64000129699707px; margin: 0.5em 0px; padding: 0px 2.5em;">
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;">A large range of sizes - 18M all the way to 12</li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;">Sizing guide to help you find the best fit.</li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;">Color coded, overlapping pattern pieces (and measurements for rectangles!)</li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;">Numbered pattern pages </li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;">And did I mention it is fun to read :)</li>
</ul>

Yes I realize that Easter was over a month ago, but I just got the photos added to my computer today. Yeah... I also wanted to share more photos of the two Easter orders I worked on. So here you have it... Easter 2014 over a month late :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K_wJm9lehT4/U2e8ntQHJ4I/AAAAAAAAF_M/Ez4zhpdv2hQ/s1600/Easter+2014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K_wJm9lehT4/U2e8ntQHJ4I/AAAAAAAAF_M/Ez4zhpdv2hQ/s1600/Easter+2014.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>These were actually taken the day before Easter at the Easter egg hunt we went to. J absolutely loves Easter egg hunting. She is a girl on a mission. We had a really wonderful time despite the terrible weather. I even included a very rare photo of myself so you guys could get a good belly shot :)<br />
<br />
When I sat down to write this post I thought we had taken pictures of J on actual Easter. Well I was wrong! Can you believe I have no pictures of my child on actual Easter. Oh well... her is a pic of the dress she wore.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ox2oU5xCVsw/U2fWWtZ6noI/AAAAAAAAF_8/exr-fBGkv74/s1600/Customs+20143.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ox2oU5xCVsw/U2fWWtZ6noI/AAAAAAAAF_8/exr-fBGkv74/s1600/Customs+20143.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I was able to make outfits for the cuties of a friend of mine from long ago. We went to the same church together when I was growing up and I was so excited to do some outfits for her bunch. I was so excited to do such a big coordinating set. It was like doing a line, but only having to make one of each outfit. It was so fun!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And last but most certainly not least is the sisters set I did for two very sweet little cuties. I am so in love with how they came out! I am such a fan of ric-rack and buttons (as you all know). I just think the are the perfect finishing details that make handmade so special.<br />

Hope you enjoyed a peak even it is better late than never :)</div>

I did sew on days 5 & 6, but we had the air condition go out on the evening of day 6, so we spent a great deal of day 7 (including any sewing time I had) installing some window AC units so this prego lady could stay cool. So at least is was for a very good reason right?<br />
<br />
Day 5 I made these adorable <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/100412334/bg-original-the-darby-shorts-pdf-pattern?ref=shop_home_active_2" target="_blank">Darby Shorts</a> (pattern from the ever amazing <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/brownie-goose/158808806918" target="_blank">Brownie-Goose</a>) to go with J's FSU <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/106183044/bg-originals-the-tilly-pdf-pattern?ref=shop_home_active_9" target="_blank">Tilly</a> (yet another fabulous <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/brownie-goose/158808806918" target="_blank">Brownie-Goose pattern</a>) that I made a while back for J. We were headed to the Garnet and Gold Game Saturday (day 6) and she has was in serious need of some new bottoms.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wO5u7QmMozo/U2e4JhUjH7I/AAAAAAAAF_A/NfB0y_s3KLk/s1600/Jaycelyn1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wO5u7QmMozo/U2e4JhUjH7I/AAAAAAAAF_A/NfB0y_s3KLk/s1600/Jaycelyn1.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Day 6 was another busy day, so I didn't exactly get much done in the sewing room, but I did work for an hour on J's Pink Dress project. Hand embroidery is counting in my book this go around.<br />
<br />
Kid's Clothes Week is always a fun project and I am so glad I was finally able to participate again. Looking forward to the next go around!<br />

<br />
Well I almost reached my goal. I finished the Elsa shirt redo and completed the Anna shirt as well. I got two pairs of shorts made to go with the Elsa mess-up for J and the redo for the order (well almost... I had to add the waistband and buttons this morning. Hence the late post). The only thing I didn't get done is the skirt to go with the Anna shirt. I kinda impressed myself. I haven't done that much sewing in one day since I found out I was prego!<br />

<br />
I really love how the Elsa shirt/shorts combo turned out! I am so in love with the cutie princess designs from Lynnie Pinnie. I also have Rapunzel, Merida, Aura, Belle, Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White, Tiana, Jasmine, Tinkerbell, and Pocahontas in addition to Anna and Elsa. So if you are intrested in a set for your little princess obsessed cutie, just send me a message at hootycutiedesigns@gmail.com.<br />

And J really loves the outfit too which makes it soooo much better! I sometimes have to bribe her to wear what I make, but she put this outfit on in a second. She has already requested one of all the princess. She even wants one for her baby sister (which is a giant leap in acceptance for this little lady. LOL)!<br />

I've already technically gotten my one hour in today for day 5, but I am going to try to get some shorts made for J tonight to wear to the Garnet and Gold Game tomorrow. Talk to you guys tomorrow (hopefully... day 6 is going to be a very busy day!).Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-11793460231956300812014-04-10T10:32:00.000-04:002014-04-25T11:51:58.245-04:00KCW - Day 3 RecapDay 3 is in the books. We had a busy day running errands, and I had a lot of work to do on the computer (technology is such a time black hole!). But I did manage to get in my sewing time working on my new embroidery machine that my hubby got me for my birthday! (He's just the best!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.facebook.com/HootyCutieDesigns/photos/a.228938757143950.49702.190817897622703/652501474787674/?type=1&theater" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUTAMNOn3mLxY1HZ1VYREJnEC6wXAy0L6jLOCd2x2mybMBvX_bw4qjPLfAaWkX362CzBNIowS3ZO2KycI_iZ0RxPaHPXuLPAhy6CdHEk6Msso-4msfbCPwPaYeg5inB5dZcSO2D6kzoB0/s1600/10152590_652501474787674_4107116085064506130_n.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a><span id="goog_595814531"></span><span id="goog_595814532"></span><a href="https://www.blogger.com/"></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm still learning, but I am loving it. I did have a few mishaps with this shirt. I caught the back of the shirt with the needle (I knew it was going to happen!). I only looked away from a second and bam! But I was able to save it making only a tiny hole in the back of the shirt. Then I see a teen-tiny little bug crawling on the design. I go to wipe it off and crush it leaving a tiny blood trail. Just perfect! So J gets a new shirt and I get to do the design all over again (which isn't so bad). (I found this and several other super cute princess inspired designs over at <a href="http://lynniepinnie.com/shop/index.php" target="_blank">Lynnie Pinnie</a>.)</div>
<div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div>
I even manged to get a little more hand embroidery done on J's "Pink Dress" I shared on <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2014/04/kcw-day-1-recap.html" target="_blank">day one</a>. She is getting really excited about it (I think because she is helping mommy sew) which has me motivated to keep things moving on it. I may finish sooner than I think. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm off to redo the shirt from last night and make one other. Can you guess what princess it is going to be? I'm also making matching bottoms to go with the shirts. I can't wait to see the finished outfits. My goal is to try and get them done today! We will see...</div>

<div>
Day 2 went much better then day one! J was in serious need of some new pants. She is still such a skinny mini, but she is getting really tall. So all of her size 2 still fit, but were all 3 inches too short. So last week I had the hubby cut a bunch of pants projects out. Day 2's project... heart pants per J's request. <br />

I used the <a href="http://shwindesigns.bigcartel.com/product/lovely-rita-skinnies" target="_blank">Lovely Rita Skinnies</a> pattern from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/shwinandshwin?ref=br_tf" target="_blank">Shwin Designs</a>. I just love her patterns. They are so unique. They are also very well written and true to size. This was the first time I had sewn the Ritas, so it took me a little longer. But the outcome was perfect. They are a little bigger in the legs than I hoped, but that is only because J is so supper skinny. </div>
<div>

<div>
When I finished the pants, J said "I love them. Now make me a shirt please." Gotta love my little sassy girl. At least she said please right? So out came the ladybug fabric that she choose the last time we were at Hobby Lobby. She said it matched because it had hearts on it. She even choose the pattern she wanted. She choose the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/154428069/the-olivia-top-pdf-pattern-and-tutorial?ref=shop_home_active_10" target="_blank">Olivia Top</a> by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CaliFayeCollection" target="_blank">Cali Faye</a>. Yet another fabulous designer. I love her style as well. And her patterns are also well written and true to size. </div>

<br /></div>
<div>
I tried out two new patterns today (not bad for one day's work). I didn't want to have this post be ridiculously long, so I only included a general review of the each pattern. I will try and get full reviews up sometime next week. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Day 3 is off to a rough start (as you can tell by how late I'm getting this posted). So I'm off to try and get an hour in before I have to cook dinner! </div>

You may know that we made a trip to Disney over the weekend. Well between all the unpacking, laundry, and sheer exhaustion from the trip, I wasn't able to get into the sewing room for the hour. My compromise to meet the challenge... hand sewing! Well hand embroidery to be exact.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you follow me on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HootyCutieDesigns" target="_blank">Facebook</a> or <a href="http://instagram.com/hootycutie" target="_blank">Instagram</a>, you may remember this photo I posted last week:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.facebook.com/HootyCutieDesigns/photos/a.228938757143950.49702.190817897622703/649445571759931/?type=1&theater" target="_blank"><img height="320" src="https://scontent-a-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1.0-9/10007232_649445571759931_397915069_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It is one of the four campers I am embroidering on the bottom of a skirt for the "Pink" dress J has requested. Hand embroidery is always something I have admired, but didn't think I had the patience for. But I started putting some small embroidery on the back pockets of pants and really enjoyed it. So I thought I would dive in with a big project! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So last night instead of an hour at the sewing machine, I spend almost 2 hours in bed relaxing and working on the second camper for J's "pink" dress while hubby did some work on his computer:</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I am just loving how these little campers are coming out. And I can not wait to get the whole dress done. Progress is slower than I normally can handle, but J is helping me pull the needle through and it is so great for me to see her enjoy something I love so much. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And now I'm off to get some actual sewing done today. Talk to you guys tomorrow! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.kidsclothesweek.com/"><img alt="kid's clothes week" src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/staticSite/sewing_machine_button_300_square.png" /></a> </div>
<br />
So if you have been around for a while you may remember this fun challenge that I did <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2013_04_01_archive.html" target="_blank">last year</a> (if not, you can <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2013_04_01_archive.html" target="_blank">catch up here</a>). It is called <a href="https://www.facebook.com/kidsclothesweek" target="_blank">Kid's Clothes Week</a>. It is a challenge to sew for kiddos for at least one hour a day for an entire week. You can learn more about it on <a href="http://blog.kidsclothesweek.com/" target="_blank">their blog</a>. It is a really great challenge and there are some really amazingly talented ladies who take part in it. And they best part is they share their creations in the <a href="http://www.kidsclothesweek.com/projects/browseprojects" target="_blank">KCW Community</a>.<br />
<br />
They do several challenges a year, but this is the first one I have been able to participate in since the very <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2013_04_01_archive.html" target="_blank">first one last spring</a>! It is always on a week where we are out of town. So I am very excited to be participating again! I will be doing my blogging the day after just like a did last year, so look out for what I do today (day one) on the blog tomorrow.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0z39L9zqC7fhprSxxb5x-daDNfT-BojK7NeRS1Ibk3AWW9Mx4KYFfGrvG_39JRhL8GMY89BVfVViSi-6ePxEzzLcJVvuTjYkwzwnn1sYEpra_7Em6__TgGvaxlxQMRCPlBKe-WXXVA7Q/s1600/IMG_7098_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0z39L9zqC7fhprSxxb5x-daDNfT-BojK7NeRS1Ibk3AWW9Mx4KYFfGrvG_39JRhL8GMY89BVfVViSi-6ePxEzzLcJVvuTjYkwzwnn1sYEpra_7Em6__TgGvaxlxQMRCPlBKe-WXXVA7Q/s1600/IMG_7098_2.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
If you been around for a while, you know that I have a love for all things button! And long ago Miss Amy over at <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/browniegoose?ref=ss_profile" target="_blank">Brownie-Goose</a> (you know my favorite pattern designer) posted a picture of all of her buttons lined up by color in these adorable little baby food jars. I mean it was cuteness overload. And then I remembered all of these baby food jars I had my sister in law keep for me that where stashed only god knows where. So after some digging, I find those cute little jars and begin to fill them with all my fun button finds.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Fast forward 2 years and things have gotten majorly out of control. You know that button obsession means that I collect them much faster than they get used (darn JoAnn and their 50% off button sales!). They where literately taking over my ledge behind my sewing machines. Then I get an email from DecorSteals and there are these stacked lazy susans. A light bulb goes off instantly. I rush to the website and guess what... they are sold out of the 3 tier option. Of course! So what little light bulb goes off next... oh I just make my own. So off to Pintrest I go and find these pins:</div>
<div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/170996117076398145/" target="_blank"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_rQ5LFbqAUo/Tv9jUzj941I/AAAAAAAABvQ/ZsViOUb6bek/s200/tier2.jpg" height="200" width="150" /></a> <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/170996117076398134/" target="_blank"><img alt="DIY Pottery Barn Lazy Susan" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/1a/dc/a8/1adca8b560747f3fa3cfbbd13f9fb345.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Off to the store I go in hunt of the items I needed (which was not an easy process as the dollar store didn't have any of it and I had to go to 3 different stores to find what I needed for a reasonable price). Then I followed the tutorial and volia!<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7dkhoXijdgJh84klDsW-wWCHyTwjdEI9jNQ9ZgtPUAV4xH4x4XB3-NsDF0TcLRq_VgxhiEoriy8rEsY1NyfvPI47fm0fyhRe-t1MacRVS5HxEAXf_tP-8QX2MmLMoAtK6KpkclyNz6YE/s1600/Tutorials.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7dkhoXijdgJh84klDsW-wWCHyTwjdEI9jNQ9ZgtPUAV4xH4x4XB3-NsDF0TcLRq_VgxhiEoriy8rEsY1NyfvPI47fm0fyhRe-t1MacRVS5HxEAXf_tP-8QX2MmLMoAtK6KpkclyNz6YE/s1600/Tutorials.jpg" height="285" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<ol>
<li>The items I used. 3 candle sticks, 5 cake pans, 2 lazy susans, spray paint, gorilla glue and epoxy. </li>
<li>We (my hubby helped) added the lazy susans to the bottom of two of the pans with the epoxy. </li>
<li>We spray painted the candle sticks. </li>
<li>We attached the candle sticks to the cake pans with the gorilla glue (hence the bottles of cleaners for weight). If I were to do more, I would use the epoxy for this part also. It seems to have a much stronger hold with the metal to metal. We almost did, but the epoxy was dried out by the time we got to this step. (So I would have painted first and then done all the assembly at once). </li>
</ol>
<br />
<br />
And here is the before and after shot of my button storage. The pictures just do not do it justice! It was an unbelievable transformation! I am so in love with how everything turned out.<br />

So you may have noticed that things have been very quite here in HootyCutie land. I promise there is a good reason. We are expecting baby girl #2 in June! We are beyond thrilled (well most of us that is... Jaycelyn is coming around. LOL)!! But the real reason things have been so quite is that the first trimester was really hard for me. I was constantly sick and could hardly keep my house in order, let alone stand for hours to cut fabric. You guys just don't know how depressing that was... LOL. So with the holidays and January being a slow month usually, I decided that a nice long break was in order.<br />
<br />
I am finally feeling much better and I am so ready to start creating again! However, things are going to be a little different than they have been in the past. I will be doing many more ready to ship (already made) items. It is simply easier and quicker for me to make several of an item at one time than one at a time as orders come in. One of the most important things to me is keeping my turn-around time as short as possible. Having things ready to go out the door means you get them in a few days rather than a few weeks! So keep an eye out on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HootyCutieDesigns" target="_blank">Facebook page</a> as I will be posting fabric combinations there and taking pre-orders like I did with the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HootyCutieDesigns/photos/a.228938757143950.49702.190817897622703/526069790764177/?type=1&theater" target="_blank">sailboat</a> and <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HootyCutieDesigns/photos/a.228938757143950.49702.190817897622703/574386042599218/?type=1&theater" target="_blank">red dresses</a> last year. <br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
I will still take a very limited number of custom orders per month. So if you are looking for birthday/special occasion outfits (which you guys always have the best ideas for), please please try to remember to get your orders in at least one month in advance. Just send an email over to <a href="mailto:hootycutiedesigns@gmail.com">hootycutiedesigns@gmail.com</a> to see if their are any spots available.<br />
<br />
Another change for 2014... I will no longer be selling on Etsy. Due to a combination of many factors, I have decided that it is no longer the place for me. HootyCutie can now be found exclusively at <a href="http://shop.hootycutie.com/">http://shop.hootycutie.com</a>. <br />
<br />
So I hope you guys will bear with me as I get back up and running with the new way of doing things. And I'm so looking forward to catching up with you guys!Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-64911113312859233212013-10-04T01:42:00.000-04:002014-02-04T20:54:53.185-05:00Farmstead Meadows - Fall 2013 Collection<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Inspired by the fabrics to the right, Farmstead Meadows has a retro farm inspired feel with a modern touch. There is just something about the retro feel of the farm fabric that I just can't get enough off. And oh that floral! Those great big flowers and those amazing fall colors with touches of bright colors. It really is just plain fabulous. I am so thrilled with how each piece in this collection turn out, and I love they way they all compliment each other. I hope you guys fall in love as much as I did.<br />

This was a last minute add to the collection, and I am oh so happy that it was. I am so in love with the dress. <br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/fanciful-day-dream-dress" target="_blank">Fanciful Day Dream Dress</a><br />
This was the second piece I created for the collection. I just love everything about it. The ruffles on the bodice and that amazing herringbone print. And of course a nice big bow on the back (ya'll know I love me some bows!). I just love that dreamy feel I get when looking at this sweet dress (and that darling model!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9I99GlSQGrs/Uk5I28NEx5I/AAAAAAAADDw/y9OOOHtUT2o/s1600/nora+rae.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9I99GlSQGrs/Uk5I28NEx5I/AAAAAAAADDw/y9OOOHtUT2o/s400/nora+rae.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/nora-rae-top" target="_blank">Nora Rae Top</a><br />
Oh sweet Nora Rae... how I love thee! I mean those ric-rac trim flutter sleeves! And that oh so amazing open back with that big bow. I took a risk with this top and used what I would normally have as the feature fabric and used it as the accent fabric. I think the experiment was a success. I designed the Billy Jean Cords to be paired with the Nora Rae, but when she was next to the Sunny Bottom Jeans... an instant love triangle!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2VBhNdd4Qzc/Uk5KET4iNhI/AAAAAAAADD8/KoUp9lMvFf8/s1600/sunny+bottoms.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2VBhNdd4Qzc/Uk5KET4iNhI/AAAAAAAADD8/KoUp9lMvFf8/s400/sunny+bottoms.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/sunny-bottom-jeans" target="_blank">Sunny Bottom Jeans</a><br />
I turned up the fun on the classic ruffle pants. This great chambray (soft jean like) material is the perfect color match to the dark details of the farm fabric, and the distressed detail matches the old time feel of the collection perfectly. And man how I love those pockets! Hand embroidered lines and a fun pop of color with the polka dot fabric. Perfection! The are wonderful paired with the Bountiful Fields Dress which I designed them for, but check out the combo with the Nora Rae top... I know, I can't decided which is better either.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ru9u7YY_NgA/Uk5Li8EqxzI/AAAAAAAADEI/hd7QilalNAY/s1600/billy+cords.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ru9u7YY_NgA/Uk5Li8EqxzI/AAAAAAAADEI/hd7QilalNAY/s400/billy+cords.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/billy-jean-cords" target="_blank">Billy Jean Cords</a><br />
These unisex pants are the perfect fall staple for your little one's closet. They feature a flat front and adjustable waistband. The cuff detail with the fun pop of color red button makes them stylish while still remaining a great staple. They are perfect for pairing with the Nora Rae Top for your little gal and The Tiller Tee for your little guy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dahRiR-6DbU/Uk5Mt0fRaVI/AAAAAAAADEU/pB_3JRO58M8/s1600/tiller+tee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dahRiR-6DbU/Uk5Mt0fRaVI/AAAAAAAADEU/pB_3JRO58M8/s400/tiller+tee.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/the-tiller-tee" target="_blank">The Tiller Tee</a><br />
A great tee with fun detail. What could be better? I dyed the tees with turmeric to give them a rich harvest gold color. Then I finished it off with some fun diamond shaped argyle-esk detail. Comfort and style! Pair it with the Billy Jean Cords and you have the perfect fall outfit for your little man.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jlYQ5fXBU_M/Uk5NP3CZ7cI/AAAAAAAADEc/2gu1H45OuB8/s1600/bountiful+feilds.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jlYQ5fXBU_M/Uk5NP3CZ7cI/AAAAAAAADEc/2gu1H45OuB8/s400/bountiful+feilds.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/bountiful-fields-dress" target="_blank">Bountiful Fields Dress</a><br />
This was the first dress I created for this collection. When I think of fall, my first thought is of the Brownie-Goose Betsy pattern. It is just plain perfect. And I knew this fabric paired with this pattern would be perfection!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0HdwnESu6Qo/Uk5NoHLnmkI/AAAAAAAADEk/jylZpQnZCz8/s1600/hay+day.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0HdwnESu6Qo/Uk5NoHLnmkI/AAAAAAAADEk/jylZpQnZCz8/s400/hay+day.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/happy-hay-day-dress" target="_blank">Happy Hay Day Dress</a><br />
I almost scraped this dress after asking you guys on Facebook if you preferred a dress with sleeves or a one good for layering. Long sleeves won, but it was such a close call that I decided to go ahead and make both. And I am glad that I did. I really think this pattern is perfect for the farm inspiration these fabrics provide. And get a load of that chicken fabric! It makes me so happy (LOL)!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JWUwZu9Zs0w/Uk5RMzVpAtI/AAAAAAAADE8/L9OK2vU9bRY/s1600/milkmaid.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JWUwZu9Zs0w/Uk5RMzVpAtI/AAAAAAAADE8/L9OK2vU9bRY/s400/milkmaid.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/the-milkmaid-apron-skirt" target="_blank">The Milkmaid Apron Skirt</a><br />
And speaking of that chicken fabric... I wanted to add a skirt to this line as J is all about skirts these days. And I wanted an one outfit to have an apron, because, come on, farm inspiration just screams apron. So came the birth of the Milkmaid Apron Skirt. And you know me... I like versatility, so enter the reversible apron. You can actually get three different looks from this one skirt. How's that for versatility?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-isrPsZ4wZHE/Uk5O-f122CI/AAAAAAAADEw/btTNeb7-nOM/s1600/spotted+orchard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-isrPsZ4wZHE/Uk5O-f122CI/AAAAAAAADEw/btTNeb7-nOM/s400/spotted+orchard.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/spotted-orchard-pocket-dress" target="_blank">Spotted Orcaird Pocket Dress</a><br />
The pocket lovers dream! This dress features the biggest pockets I have ever put on an outfit. The very first thing J said when she say this dress was, "Ooo, pockets! I'm going to go get something to put in them." It wasn't even on her body yet and she was already filling the pockets! But my favorite detail is that sweet little point on the neckline above the sleeves. There is just something so sweet about it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sxHdrRedRbI/Uk5UyGVozcI/AAAAAAAADFI/AwF8FFnh17s/s1600/necklaces.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sxHdrRedRbI/Uk5UyGVozcI/AAAAAAAADFI/AwF8FFnh17s/s400/necklaces.jpg" height="192" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
All of the perfectly matched necklaces were provided by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Daizy-Bugz-Designs/123744337677503" target="_blank">Daizy Bug Designs</a>. I mean I really don't know how she does it, I show her the outfit and bam... Perfection! Every time. You can find them for sale at <a href="http://www.daizybugz.com/" target="_blank">her shop</a>. <br />
<br />
And there you have it. Farmstead Meadows - Fall 2013 Collection. I want to give a huge, huge, huge thank you to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ShanaBeiroPhotography" target="_blank">Shana Beiro, Photography</a> for all her hard work and time getting these A-MAZ-ING shots of my all too adorable little models. I also want to thank my little models and their parents for coming out and modeling for us. It really was a blast.Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-5687111577994043322013-09-18T20:03:00.000-04:002014-02-04T20:54:38.390-05:00Introducing "For Moms"As moms we tend to put our little ones before ourselves. Well if you are feeling the need for a little self indulgence, HCD now has you covered. Introducing HootyCutie <a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/category/for-moms" target="_blank">"For Moms"</a>. You can now find bags, make-up bags, and card holders on the HootyCutie website. I have been making some of these for a while now, but I finally got around to adding them to the site.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bxPCBxIu7HU/UjkuWJ7m-XI/AAAAAAAAC74/g1gaEuVnwn0/s1600/For+Moms2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bxPCBxIu7HU/UjkuWJ7m-XI/AAAAAAAAC74/g1gaEuVnwn0/s400/For+Moms2.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
I have been posting these bags on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HootyCutieDesigns" target="_blank">Facebook page</a> and you guys have been eating them up. That was the kick in the pants I needed to get this section up and running on the page. I will add more as I make them, but will also be taking custom orders. There will be an option to buy a single bag as well as mommy and me sets!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H-zJrLduLik/Ujk8Cv_MmyI/AAAAAAAAC8I/HMkO8JFagYY/s1600/For+Moms.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H-zJrLduLik/Ujk8Cv_MmyI/AAAAAAAAC8I/HMkO8JFagYY/s400/For+Moms.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/boho-bag-fall-paisley" target="_blank">Individual Bags</a> - <a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/product/mommy-and-me-bag-fall-paisley" target="_blank">Mommy and Me Set</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I also will have some card holders. These are perfect for business cards or mommy cards. They are also great for holding a little cash and/or a credit card and your license for quick trips into the store or a girls night out. And they make excellent gifts! Stuff a gift card in there and you get unique and adorable packaging that the recipient can keep and use. What is better than that?!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KmyeGzU5_j8/Ujk9QW7scRI/AAAAAAAAC8U/llfe1gdNB1Y/s1600/For+Moms1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KmyeGzU5_j8/Ujk9QW7scRI/AAAAAAAAC8U/llfe1gdNB1Y/s400/For+Moms1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">You can find all of these <a href="http://hootycutie.bigcartel.com/category/for-moms" target="_blank">here</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
And rounding out the "For Moms" category (for now) are these fun little make-up bags. Now the name is a little misleading because this little bags can be used for many things. My sister uses hers as a pencil case for school and my other sister uses hers in her purse for holding all those little things you keep in there. They are really perfect for just about anything you can think of. And they also make excellent gifts!<br />
<br />

You see that face in the picture?... That face is "Uh oh. I go pee pee." Yeap. Pee Pee! And that is not the worst of it. See that PURPLE punch. Guess what happen to it. Yeap, all over the WHITE tile floor. You bet ya! And of course all those cute little paper signs... yeap wet. Ugh.<br />
<br />
But thanks to our amazing family, we cleaned up the disaster and got everything back together (even printed more paper signs) before the first guests arrived. So after setting up for the second time, we had a wonderful party. Jaycelyn was over the moon about her "Pony Party", and that made everything worth it.<br />
<br />
Things had been so crazy between the Zulily order that I filled (over 100 pieces!) and our AMAZING <a href="http://www.hootycutie.com/2013/07/i-need-vacation-from-my-vacation.html" target="_blank">two week vacation</a>, that I was way behind on my party planning. I mean Martha Stewart would have been appalled by me facebook event invite! Yeap not even a real e-vite. But in the end I am so thrilled with how everything came out.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
My favorite part of the whole party idea was having a snack to represent each pony. (I am so proud of my brilliance here! LOL). Each snack is what I imagine each pony would bring to a party. I mean can't you just see Apple Jack carrying in her apples and veggies from the farm and Pinkie Pie covered in pink shake and whip cream as she totes in her Fruity Shakes. (If you can't imagine it, you obviously don't have a little girl in your house. Hahaha)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PcEq83C7aog/UilgE6TQEXI/AAAAAAAACyU/UA7-9SwQlws/s1600/3rd+bday.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PcEq83C7aog/UilgE6TQEXI/AAAAAAAACyU/UA7-9SwQlws/s400/3rd+bday.jpg" height="240" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And of course what is a party without dessert?! This year in addition to the every amazing <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lucy-Leos-Cupcakery/76315503171" target="_blank">Lucy and Leo's cupcakes</a>, we also had some unbelievably awesome cookies from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TeaAndCuriosity" target="_blank">Tea & Curiosity</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oIY6Vtuo694/UilizSf0rwI/AAAAAAAACyg/dawZkrVJrME/s1600/3rd+bday1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oIY6Vtuo694/UilizSf0rwI/AAAAAAAACyg/dawZkrVJrME/s400/3rd+bday1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We have had <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lucy-Leos-Cupcakery/76315503171" target="_blank">Lucy and Leo's cupcakes</a> at every one of J's parties. They are always a huge hit and our family even asks as soon as they get the invite if we are going to have them. If you are in the Tallahassee or Thomasville, GA area, I highly suggest you check them out. Totally worth the extra 5 pounds! Trust me :)<br />
<br />
And I was so very impressed by the cookies from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TeaAndCuriosity" target="_blank">Tea & Curiosity</a>. I contacted her the Sunday before the party on the off chance that she might actually be able to get them to me in time. And I was so excited when she said she could. And sure enough, Friday morning they were sitting there on my front door step. They were all individually wrapped and then wrapped in bubble wrap. Not a single one broken. And let me tell you, they were DELICIOUS! I know I had at least 3 or 4 more than I should have. And J looovvveeed them! I can't thank Samantha enough for them. The were the perfect final touch. Did you notice how they matched J's dress!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-miCvCX_QwGM/UiljBLL2rPI/AAAAAAAACyo/7YkqOPSYkjQ/s1600/3rd+bday2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-miCvCX_QwGM/UiljBLL2rPI/AAAAAAAACyo/7YkqOPSYkjQ/s400/3rd+bday2.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And the ever amazing <a href="http://www.daizybugz.com/" target="_blank">D<span id="goog_1913099459"></span><span id="goog_1913099460"></span>aziy Bugz</a> is responsible for the necklace and bracelet. Aren't they just perfect?! J wore it for three days straight!<br />
<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qfwVsVtjK8U/UilmIYamxKI/AAAAAAAACy4/-CFAmaABj9E/s1600/3rd+bday3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qfwVsVtjK8U/UilmIYamxKI/AAAAAAAACy4/-CFAmaABj9E/s400/3rd+bday3.jpg" height="240" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
All and all the day was wonderful and my pony obsessed princess had a grand time at her "Pony Party". I still cannot believe that she is 3! And of course here are some pictures of her in her birthday dress.<br />

<br />
<a name='more'></a>I made 2 bow dresses and three different versions of the Round Yoke Dress in the last two days alone! The orange and green one is for a little UM fan, but could also pass for FAMU.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And I haven't left out the UF fans either (although I didn't make any of them this week I thought I would still share).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOIy-KJvR1dWT6RLx5eCz77XZtEhgrSiXoDU6JItV-lEi43Qb0y964SjMDtZ5Zu4TT0XKQYUdKgx05OYPW9LgqDQ5Okvthar71Al-HNJYXoXRn32wfbgabtu267qcDHyI4bRoewWJcRXA/s1600/IMG_5191_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOIy-KJvR1dWT6RLx5eCz77XZtEhgrSiXoDU6JItV-lEi43Qb0y964SjMDtZ5Zu4TT0XKQYUdKgx05OYPW9LgqDQ5Okvthar71Al-HNJYXoXRn32wfbgabtu267qcDHyI4bRoewWJcRXA/s400/IMG_5191_2.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made this little number for a Bucs cutie. I love how it came out. We don't really follow NFL all that much, but I kinda want to make one for J anyway. It is just so darn cute.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-niTzpwtoxsw/Uilwk9Hl2aI/AAAAAAAACzg/Y8NosgfhpXU/s1600/Gameday+Dress+20132.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-niTzpwtoxsw/Uilwk9Hl2aI/AAAAAAAACzg/Y8NosgfhpXU/s400/Gameday+Dress+20132.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also worked on this little number for a Minnie Mouse fan. J walked in and saw me working on this dress and shouted, "Hey, It's Mickey!" I then asked if she would like a dress like this one. She responded "No thank you" and turned and walked out of the room. I have to say my feelings were a little hurt. LOL.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2vxaACWMaMQ/Uin6n7lZtsI/AAAAAAAAC0E/Zli3QYVMx1w/s1600/Minnie+Dress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="366" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2vxaACWMaMQ/Uin6n7lZtsI/AAAAAAAAC0E/Zli3QYVMx1w/s400/Minnie+Dress.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And one last show off moment. I made this a few weeks ago, but I didn't get a chance to share and I just love it too much to not show it to you. This little set was for a sweet little birthday girls jungle themed party. I have had the pleasure of making her birthday dress the last two years in a row. Her mom always picks the funnest fabrics!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hykg9DSkdG0/UilyGObWQNI/AAAAAAAACz0/NYl1Ay-eGX0/s1600/Custom+Orders+20134.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hykg9DSkdG0/UilyGObWQNI/AAAAAAAACz0/NYl1Ay-eGX0/s400/Custom+Orders+20134.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And now I'm off to try to finish up my fall line! I am loving it so far. Be on the look out for a model call in the next few days.Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591401661105059455.post-2232932646893887912013-08-15T22:48:00.000-04:002013-08-15T22:49:07.042-04:00Beware of Boutique Bootlegs I wanted to take a minute to make you all aware of something I recently discovered.<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<br />
I am in no way affiliated with this site above. They have stolen my photograph and intellectual property (the design of the dress). It is so disheartening to see my hard work taken and used to deceive people. Worse yet they have left my watermark on the picture which may lead people to believe that I am responsible for the product they send out.<br />
<br />
You may have heard of this being done already. I recently saw a news report about a girl who ordered a Jessica McClintock dress for prom from an online discount site and what she received did not even come close to the picture online (like not even the right color) and was literally falling apart. And now these websites are venturing into the world of boutique children's clothing. What they do is search the internet for pictures. Then they steal the pictures of items from the web and list them on their own site for a heavily discounted price. When people order from their site, they either receive a product that does not even compare to the picture, or nothing at all.<br />
<br />
And these companies that make the knock offs are not only making them for websites like Diya Dania. They sell to boutique owners and Etsy sellers as well. So please remember, if it seems "to good to be true" it most likely is.<br />
<br />
If you are willing, I would love for you to send this company an email telling them that you are aware the pictures is stolen. Maybe if enough people contact them they will remove it. You can send them an email <a href="http://www.diyadania.com/contact-us" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />

I just experienced the longest, shortest, craziest, busiest, most relaxing, month of my life. Between the Zulily event for HootyCutie, a visit from my nephews (and their parents... hehe), and an awesomely fun 2+ week family <b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">road-trip</span></b> vacation (with a recently potty trained almost three year old!), I just don't know how to describe July 2013.<br />
<br />
But I'm back and the outfits for Zulily made it out the door today and I am starting to feel like things might be starting to return to my normal form of crazy. I will be opening up my shop tomorrow, but I am going to be keeping it only ready to ship items for at least a few more days. I am making some decisions on what to work on next and I'm just not sure yet :) But on to the vacation!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
For those of you that do not know, we took a road trip out to my family ranch in Wyoming this month. It is the first time we have been out there in at least three years, and the first time my husband has ever drive out across the country. I did twice when I was younger, but it was a whole new adventure with an almost two year old.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Some sites from around our ranch. All the work of my hubs again.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Of course I was up all night the night before we left because of my ever procrastinating nature (and it didn't help that my two sweet nephews were here to tempt me the whole week before we left!) so when J woke up at 4 in the morning and would not go back to sleep, I woke my husband and of we set. The first day was our second longest of the whole trip and by far the easiest! How easy it is to drive with a sleeping child :) We meet up with my Aunt and Uncle in Texas and we were off. It was so awesome because my Aunt had done all of the planning and all I had to do was follow.<br />
<br />
We made stops in Raton, NM and both Breckenridge and Steamboat Springs, CO before arriving at my other Aunt's house in Pinedale, WY. Then we headed to our ranch for almost a week. It is never long enough and we enjoyed every single minute of it! We even stayed an extra day because we didn't want to leave. That of course made our trip back a little more difficult, but I am thankful we stayed.<br />

<br />
On the way back we came through Kansas. It was my first time ever in KS, and most of it we drove in the dark. For those of you that have never been, there are a lot, and I mean A LOT, of wind turbines out there. They have these flashing red lights on the top of them (you know so planes don't hit them). Well when it is pitch black and all you see is like 200 <i><b>synchronized </b></i>flashing red lights up ahead... let me tell you it was eerie! But it did make for an entertaining drive. I also sliced the heel of my foot open on a pair of scissors (from my crocheting). Yes... only me! That was also entertaining.<br />
<br />
But we made it back in one piece and though I miss it very much, I am happy to be back with my sewing machines and excited to start working on some new things. So stay tuned.Nikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06663017402725861135noreply@blogger.com1
